Southeast MI Event

We have a sister! We’ve long had network connections that caused people to ask, “I’m not in West Michigan! What can I do?”

In 2021, a team of employees at Yanfeng took on the challenge to develop a sister Women’s Service Day event in the Detroit area. The first year they rallied 35 volunteers, pitching in at Capuchin Soup Kitchen–Earthworks Urban Farm, Crossroads of Michigan, First Step, Food Gatherers, and the Michigan Council of Women in Technology. The next year they added a new agency, C.A.R.E.S. Farmington Hills.

On a path to growth, this year the Southeast Michigan WSD will occur on October 5, the same day as the West Michigan WSD. Agencies enrolled to welcome volunteers are:

  • American Indian Health and Family Services of Southeastern Michigan
  • Brilliant Detroit
  • C.A.R.E.S. of Farmington Hills
  • COTS
  • Covenant House
  • Fleece and Thank You
  • Food Gatherers
  • Mercy Education Project
  • Mint Artist Guild
  • Oakland Family Services

Perhaps it’s you who lives on or has relocated to the east side of the state. Maybe you have friends, colleagues, or family members there! Please help us spread the word! Register for your preferred volunteer crew at this link.
