Like last year, we’ll be working at Nuestra Casa, the new neighborhood center on West 15th Street in Westcore neighborhood, and at a number of nonprofit organizations in Holland. Activities will range from on-site and off-site tasks in support of Nuestra Casa, projects within Westcore, and assignments at nonprofit agencies around Holland. If you’re interested in being a part of this challenge, it’s time to sign up!
How to Register
Capacity is limited and you must be registered (first-registered, first-served) prior to the event to participate. Complete this online form to register for a morning session, afternoon session, or both shifts. You’ll receive confirmation that we’ve received your information, and you’ll be on an email distribution list for future event communications.
What to Expect on October 4
For a morning or all-day session, plan to arrive at a worksite in Holland (we’ll let you know where) at 8:30 a.m. For an afternoon session, plan to arrive at Hope Church by noon, where we’ll gather for a celebration lunch (for which we are asking a $5 donation). We’ll be holding a raffle and a silent auction for handmade items donated by talented women from West Michigan—so bring your checkbook! Proceeds will go toward the renovation of Nuestra Casa/The Gathering Place. (If you’re interested in donating an item, please contact the Women’s Service Day Planning Committee.)
We’ll also collect donations for Breakfast with Baby, a community outreach program begun by New Community Church in 2001. It provides needs for pregnant mothers and moms with limited income. The urgent needs are diapers, wipes, and new clothing (sizes newborn – 2 T). The program also needs: crib sheets, baby lotions (wash, lotion, diaper rash cream), receiving blankets, and blankets.
Watch for more details about our event, including our fundraising silent auction and raffle, in future communications and on our website. Thank you for your willingness to help!
Tell Your Friends!
Please help us expand our community network by inviting your sisters, friends, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, daughters, partners, and colleagues (aged 18 and older, please). Don’t forget the women in your book club, knitting group, and project teams who want to make a difference in their community! Simply ask them to subscribe to our mailing list. Or share via Facebook and Twitter to let them know you’d like them to register for Women’s Service Day. You can also send their e-mail addresses to the Women’s Service Day Planning Committee and we’ll add them to our mailing list.
