Mark Your Calendar for Women’s Service Day 2012

This year, Women’s Service Day will be held on Thursday, October 4. The focus will continue to be neighborhood revitalization and an opportunity for volunteers—alongside neighbors—to create “pride of place” in the City of Holland.

Women’s Service Day, Good Samaritan Ministries, and New Community/Fourth Reformed Church are working side-by-side with Holland’s Westcore neighbors to turn a vacant house at 253 West 15th Street into a neighborhood center.

Called Nuestra Casa/The Gathering Place, the building is being renovated to allow neighborhood residents to hold activities such as book groups, cooking classes, canning classes, mentoring activities, music lessons, crafts for kids, support groups, reading activities, and community gardening.
