This year, Women’s Service Day celebrates its 10th anniversary on Thursday, October 6 with a focus on neighborhood revitalization and an opportunity for volunteers—alongside neighbors—to create “pride of place” in the City of Holland.
Activities planned for this year’s event will range from on-site and off-site tasks in support of Nuestra Casa/The Gathering Place, projects within the neighborhood, and assignments at nonprofit agencies around Holland.
If you’re interested in being a part of this challenge, it’s time to sign up!
How to Register
Capacity is limited and you must be registered (first-registered, first-served) prior to the event to participate.
Complete this online form by September 2 to register for a morning, afternoon, or all-day work session. You’ll receive confirmation that we’ve received your information, and you’ll be on an email distribution list for future event communications.
What to Expect on October 6
For a morning or all-day session, plan to arrive at a worksite in Holland (we’ll let you know where) at 8:30 a.m. For an afternoon session, plan to arrive at Hope Church at noon, where we’ll gather for a celebration lunch (for which we are asking a $5 donation). We’ll be holding a raffle and a silent auction for handmade items donated by talented women from West Michigan—so bring your checkbook! Proceeds will go toward the renovation of Nuestra Casa/The Gathering Place. (If you’re interested in donating an item, please contact the Women’s Service Day Planning Committee.)
We’ll also collect new or gently used children’s books as donations for Nuestra Casa. (English, Spanish, and bilingual books are greatly appreciated!) Watch for more details about the donation drive, the raffle, and silent auction in future communications and here on the Women’s Service Day blog.
Thank you for your willingness to help! We look forward to this opportunity to create “pride of place” in our community.
